The Role

Reporting into the Operations Shift Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a designated operational area, ensuring teams operate efficiently, safely, and in line with company standards. The role focuses on delivering operational KPIs, maintaining compliance, and leading Team leaders and operatives to achieve performance targets.

 

??? What You’ll Be Doing:

 

Operational Management

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities within the allocated area to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Drive team performance to achieve agreed objectives and KPIs.
  • Monitor operations to ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed consistently.
  • Support the Operations Shift Manager in ensuring all functions run effectively across the shift.

 

Team Leadership & Performance

  • Direct, monitor, and manage departmental Team Leaders in their daily responsibilities.
  • Oversee operatives and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to the required standard.
  • Motivate and support teams to achieve operational goals throughout the shift.
  • Conduct regular shift briefings to communicate priorities and updates.
  • Complete 1-2-1s, probation reviews, and manage holiday requests for team.
  • Identify underperformance and initiate Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) where required.
  • Confidently handle informal conversations and collect evidence for formal investigations when necessary.

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all Health & Safety (H&S) regulations and site rules are followed at all times.
  • Conduct regular walkarounds to ensure safe working practices are being adhered to.
  • Monitor working areas to ensure they remain safe, clean, and fit for purpose.
  • Log all near misses and accidents accurately on the H&S system.
  • Escalate safety concerns or risks to the management team immediately.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance across all activities

 

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Provide accurate operational data and reports as required.
  • Double-check errors or issues before reporting to ensure accuracy.
  • Deliver mid-shift updates to the Operations Shift Manager.
  • Immediately escalate any issues affecting performance, safety, or service.
  • Provide detailed end-of-shift handovers to ensure continuity.
  • Update warehouse tracking boards with key KPI and performance information

 

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the implementation of company policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist in improving operational efficiency across inbound and outbound functions.
  • Ensure effective communication and cooperation between shifts and departments.

 

Quality Control & Compliance Audits

  • Conduct routine checks to ensure staff are following instructions and SOPs.
  • Maintain high standards of operational accuracy and quality within the department.

 

?? What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse or operational environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Good understanding of operational KPIs and performance management.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage conflict and handle employee relations effectively.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in data accuracy and reporting.
  • Good understanding of CPU
  • Exceptional time-management abilities.
  • A team player.
  • Excellent IT skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel etc.
  • Experience of Peoplevox is beneficial but not crucial.
