About the Role

WKW Precision Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced and reliable Milling Setter/Operator to join our precision machining team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC Vertical Milling Machines, including loading fixtures, preparing tooling, and loading CNC programs to manufacture high-quality components.

Working Hours

38 hours per week

• Monday – Thursday: 07:00 – 15:30
• Friday: 07:00 – 13:00

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC Vertical Milling Machines.
• Load fixtures, vices, and workholding equipment accurately.
• Install and adjust cutting tools according to job requirements.
• Upload and verify CNC programs.
• Perform tool offsets and minor program adjustments where necessary.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out in-process inspection using measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges).
• Ensure all components meet required tolerances and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to achieve targets.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience as a CNC Milling Setter/Operator (ideally 4+ years).
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and tooling.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings confidently.
• Competent in the use of precision measuring instruments.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Desirable

• Experience working with Heidenhain CNC controls.
• Ability to make minor program edits.
• Experience within precision engineering or similar sectors.
