Key Responsibilities:
Risk Assessments & Product Safety Reviews:
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for product categories, ensuring compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards within your category areas.
- Review and approve product specifications providing advice on quality control measures and test plans in your category area.
- Identify potential risks early and work collaboratively with product development team and suppliers to implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with the product development teams to implement quality standards at the inception stage of new products.
- Address non-conformities by working closely with suppliers to complete appropriate corrective actions.
Technical Documentation:
- Assess and review technical documentation, including material datasheets, regulatory declarations, and product certification.
- Ensure materials and components used in product development align with regulatory and safety standards.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive compliance database for all product categories & packaging requirements (including sealing comments and testing results).
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee external lab testing for UK & EU markets.
- Maintain a proactive approach to product safety by staying informed about emerging risks and regulatory updates.
- Perform in-house testing where applicable and ensure all testing processes and outcomes are correctly recorded.
Compliance Management:
- Ensure all packaging, labelling, and declarations meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Review & approve safety claims and create instructional materials to align with compliance standards.
- Liaise with customer care team to ensure that any non-conformities are identified at the earliest possible instance.
- Address non-conformities in a timely manner by working closely with suppliers to implement corrective actions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product safety and quality assurance.
- Stay updated on evolving global compliance regulations and communicate relevant changes to internal stakeholders.
From time to time, you may be requested to undertake other duties within the scope of your role as instructed by the business.
Skills Required:
- Highly organised.
- Strong communication skills and experience communicating with multiple different stakeholders within the business.
- Solid commercial awareness and understanding of the supply chain.
- Minimum 2 years industry experience in either a QA or similar related role.
- Proven experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in clothing or homeware goods.
- Ability to assess technical documentation and recommend appropriate risk analysis and safety tests.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- IT skills including Excel.
