Job description:

Careermakers Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner on behalf of our client based in Astley, Manchester. This is a temp to perm opportunity with a well-established transport company operating within the waste and bulk haulage sector.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner with a strong background in the waste industry who can confidently manage daily fleet operations in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

• Planning and allocating daily loads for a waste and bulk haulage fleet
• Managing routes efficiently to maximise fleet utilisation and productivity
• Ensuring compliance with transport regulations, WTD and driver hours legislation
• Supporting drivers with briefings, scheduling and operational queries
• Liaising with customers to confirm collections, deliveries and resolve issues
• Monitoring vehicle movements and operational efficiency throughout the day
• Working closely with workshop teams to ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant

Shift Details

• Monday to Friday
• 40 hours per week, 06:00- 08:00 starts
• Office based – Astley

Pay Rate (Temp Period)

• £13 – £18 per hour depending on experience
• Temp to perm opportunity

Permanent Salary

• £25,000 – £35,000 per year depending on experience

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Transport Planner is essential
• Must have previous experience within the waste industry
• Good knowledge of transport compliance and driver hours regulations
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and transport systems
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
