Heavy Duty Fitter – Wash Plant

Location: Kirkby (L33 4XZ)
Pay: £20.00 – £25.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

CareerMakers Recruitment are currently recruiting for a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Fitter on behalf of our client based in Kirkby.

This is a hands-on role supporting site operations and maintaining heavy plant machinery and aggregate wash plant systems. It is ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge and a proactive approach to maintenance and uptime.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 5:00pm
• Saturday: 7:00am – 1:00pm (when required)
• Additional overtime available when necessary
• Expected hours: 47.5 – 60 per week

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on heavy plant machinery including excavators, loading shovels, screeners and crushers
• Service and maintain aggregate wash plant systems
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Complete routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise uptime
• Monitor plant performance and ensure operational efficiency
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports and maintenance logs
• Work collaboratively with plant operators, fitters and management
• Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with health and safety regulations

Requirements

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Previous experience maintaining heavy plant machinery
• Experience with aggregate wash plant maintenance highly desirable
• Good understanding of health & safety within an industrial environment
• Basic computer literacy for reporting and record keeping
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team
• Must be able to commute to the Kirkby site (L33 area)
• Flexible to work overtime and weekends when required
