Food Technologist

 

Join our Team

We are looking for a passionate and driven Food Technologist to join our dynamic, fun and friendly team. This role offers the opportunity to work across product development, process improvement, and food safety within a fast-paced, multi-site environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and improving products, supporting trials and scale-up activities, and ensuring all work complies with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, while contributing to continuous improvement across the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

? Generate new ideas, create recipes, modify existing products (e.g., low-fat, gluten-free), and conduct sensory testing.

? Design and optimize the scale up of trials, ensuring efficiency and quality control.

Project management and recording

? Stay updated on food laws, ensure accurate labelling, and research additives and substitutes.

? Investigate food science, new ingredients, and alternative production methods. 

? Assist with investigations, potential improvements and reliability of manufacturing processes.

? Investigate potential changes to processes to improve product quality and/or consistency.

? Ensure all documentation for projects is maintained and circulated to relevant personnel.

? Ensure all developments or changes comply with the Company’s Food Safety and Quality Policy.

? Maintaining an ongoing understanding and knowledge of the latest regulatory requirements pertaining to the Food and Drink Industry.

? Review validation practices, monitoring trends and initiating improvement opportunities.

? Assisting with the development of documentation, including process flows, SOPs etc.

 

Essential Skills & Knowledge

? Strong understanding of chemistry, and food science (to degree level or similar)

? Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

? Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business.

? Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP) and regulations. 

? Computer literate.

? This is a multi-site role

? Clean Driving License
