JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Post Title

Senior Residential Support Worker

Reports to

Home Manager

Hours

30 working hours per shift rotation (2 on 4 off) and 18 sleeping hours

Purpose of role:

 

To provide high quality therapeutic care to young people following Choices Homes for Children Statement of Purpose.

 

To understand and adhere to Choices Homes for Children’s policies and procedures, and work within the relevant legislation (Children’s Home Regulations 2015, Quality Standards 2015 and Towards a Stable Life, Brighter Future 2002) and deliver these to young people within the home.

 

To understand and apply safeguarding and whistleblowing practices and processes. To champion our core values.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To understand and deliver the young person’s Care Plan every day.
  • To meet all the basic physical needs of the young person every day.
  • To keep up to date accurate records for the young people in line with systems of the home.
  • To carry out checks and maintain all relevant records relating to Health & Safety as directed by line manager.
  • To contribute, update and read monthly all relevant plans (risk assessment,

behaviour plan and placement plan) to ensure that significant behaviours are noted and recorded.

  • To develop skills, knowledge and experience agreed with line manager to develop

working practice and set professional goals.

 

  • To conduct supervision meetings as directed by the Home and Deputy Manager.
  • To contribute to the positive culture of the home demonstrating our core values.
  • To use initiative to ensure that all working hours are used effectively.
  • To champion equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • To work with internal and external services and professionals to ensure the continuity of care for young people.
  • To ensure all domestic duties in the home are carried out daily and signed off to standard.
  • To care for the fabric, equipment, and grounds of the home and to provide a homely environment.
  • To actively contribute to a therapeutic homely environment, considering the young person’s wishes and preferences.
  • To be accountable for the homes petty cash and ensure financial systems and processes are followed correctly.
  • To be accountable for all records, systems and operating procedures of the home as set by line manager

Regulatory and Administrative:

 

  • Ensure all regulatory standards are followed and records stored centrally.
  • To attend internal and external professionals’ meetings as required.
  • To adhere to the whistle blowing policy to ensure that poor practice, negligence, and dishonesty is raised appropriately.
  • To ensure own and others understanding and compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Equality and Diversity Act.
  • To be accountable for the homes petty cash and ensure financial systems and processes are followed correctly.
  • Ensure regulatory training is completed and refreshed

Other Requirements:

  • To work as directed to support another home if required which may be other than your rota shift.
  • Any other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time by line management.
