Job Title

Site Engineering Supervisor (Middlewich)

Reports to

Site Manager / Engineering Manager

Overview/Purpose of role:

To Lead a team of multi skilled engineers in collaboration with Line Leaders to ensure proactive response to planned maintenance activity and breakdowns on the Middlewich site in a 24/7 environment.

Accountable for the delivery of the Site’s maintenance plan, including Auxiliary equipment and statutory insurance inspections.

Supporting the Operations team to achieve compliance to the production plan, by minimising engineering downtime, increasing availability, performance, and efficiency of the existing assets through continuous improvement techniques.

 

 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain a clean, safe & organised working environment
  • Always demonstrate safe behaviour and conform to all safe systems of work
  • Lead a culture that enhances awareness to reduce accidents and near misses
  • Carry out duties ensuring the site achieves and maintains required GMP standards
  • Line monitoring to improve efficiency
  • Accountable for maintenance of site services equipment including boilers, compressors, HVAC, LEV, etc
  • Issue planned/scheduled maintenance tasks & track work done or required on CMMS (Shire)
  • Monitor feedback for improving the planned maintenance system and update accordingly
  • Order spare parts & assist in maintaining sites engineering store
  • Liaise with contractors, issue permits & track performance of service contracts
  • Assist with machinery installation and decommissioning
  • Support teams in electrical and mechanical proactive and re-active maintenance
  • To communicate with teams and ensure problems are escalated accordingly
  • Plan and track routine equipment safety and maintenance inspections
  • Ensure all work conforms to statutory & safety requirements
  • Ensure that plant and equipment perform to manufacture product efficiently to high quality standards.
  • Undertake the training of others as required for development and regulatory requirements
  • Identify own training needs and with Site Manager & agree a time plan for achieving this.
  • Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement, to enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement teams as required
  • Communicate daily with Line Leaders & Site Manager to ensure planned maintenance, engineering and production priorities are understood.
  • To coach and train colleagues where required
  • To be systems minded and have a good operational understanding of the process & awareness of production waste/defects
  • Deputise for Site Manager in their absence

Qualifications and experience

Essential or desirable?

O Level or GCSE of C or higher in Maths and English

Time served Engineering apprentice trained

NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering)

E

18th Edition rules & regulations of wiring

D

Leadership Experience within engineering

E

Planning experience using a CMMS

D

Health & Safety Qualification - Managing Safely IOSH, etc

D

Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

D

FMCG or regulatory environment experience

D

BOAS or boiler operator qualification

D

DSEAR understanding and/or experience
