Job Title

Multi Skilled Line Engineer (Middlewich)

Reports to

Line Leader/Engineering Supervisor

Overview/Purpose of role:

A member of a cross functional line team that ensures proactive response to maintenance and breakdowns on the Middlewich site in a 24/7 environment.

Supporting the Operations team to achieve compliance to the production plan, by minimising engineering downtime, increasing availability, performance, and efficiency of the existing assets through continuous improvement techniques.

Providing effective, efficient, timely response to plant breakdowns & ensuring planned maintenance is completed on time and in full as per the site PPM requirements.

Assisting in the set up of lean production teams by supporting the Operations personnel during breaks & absence.

 

 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain a clean, safe & organised working environment
  • Always demonstrate safe behaviour and conform to all safe systems of work
  • Support a culture that enhances awareness to reduce accidents and near misses
  • Carry out duties ensuring the site achieves and maintains required GMP standards
  • Provide 24 hour/7 day cover to Middlewich production process
  • Attend machinery breakdowns & ensure that all measures taken are recorded on CMMS (Shire)
  • Provide first line maintenance support to the site’s auxiliary equipment (boilers, Air conditioning, etc)
  • Line monitoring to improve efficiency
  • Carry out planned/scheduled maintenance tasks & record work done or required on CMMS (Shire)
  • Provide feedback for improving the planned maintenance system
  • Order spare parts & assist in maintaining sites engineering store
  • Liaise with contractors & issue permits (if trained)
  • Assist with machinery installation and decommissioning
  • Diagnose machine breakdowns and act accordingly
  • To communicate and escalate accordingly when assistance is required
  • Carry out routine equipment safety and maintenance inspections
  • Ensure all work conforms to statutory & safety requirements
  • Ensure that plant and equipment perform to manufacture product efficiently to high quality standards.
  • Undertake the training of others as required for development and regulatory requirements
  • Identify own training needs and with manager agree a time plan for achieving this.
  • Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement, to enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement teams as required
  • Communicate daily with Team Leaders & Managers to ensure planned maintenance, engineering and production priorities are understood.
  • To coach and train colleagues where required
  • To be an integral part of the Operations team, provide Operational cover as and when required for the Line leader & or Operator
  • To be systems minded and have a good operational understanding of the process & awareness of production waste/defects

  • Experienced Multi skilled engineer (electrical or mechanically) with experience in automation/FMCG equipment
  • Be punctual & reliable
  • Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Office & mobile device comfortably

  • Good fault finding & problem-solving skills

Qualifications and experience

Essential or desirable?

O Level or GCSE of C or higher in Maths and English

Time served Engineering apprentice trained

NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering)

18th Edition rules & regulations of wiring

FMCG or regulatory environment experience

Working hours & Remuneration

  • 4 on 4 off continental shift pattern
  • 0600-1800 Days
  • 1800-0600 Nights
  • 42 Hour week
  • Grade and pay rates as contractually agreed C8 start rate & C9 rate on completion of probation
