Job Title | Shift Electrical Engineer with weekend cover |
Reports to | Engineering Team Leader / Managers |
Overview/Purpose of role: | A member of a team of Electrical maintenance engineers that ensures proactive response to maintenance and breakdowns on both sites on 7 days a week shift pattern between 6-2 and 2-10 also providing cover at weekends on a call out Rota basis Supporting the Operations team to achieve compliance to the production plan, by minimising engineering downtime, increasing availability, performance, and efficiency of the existing assets through continuous improvement techniques. Providing effective, efficient, timely response to plant breakdowns & ensuring planned maintenance is completed on time and in full as per the site PPM requirements. |
Responsibilities & Duties |
- Maintain a clean, safe & organised working environment
- Always demonstrate safe behavior and conform to all safe systems of work
- Support a culture that enhances awareness to reduce accidents and near misses
- Carry out duties ensuring the site achieves and maintains required GMP standards
- Provide cover on Monday to Friday basis plus weekend cover, overtime available
- Respond to weekend call outs on a Rota basis
- Carryout project work as directed including panel building.
- Attend machinery breakdowns & ensure that all measures taken are recorded on CMMS (Shire)
- Provide first line maintenance support to the manufacturing departments
- Line monitoring to improve efficiency
- Carry out planned/scheduled maintenance tasks & record work done or required on CMMS (Shire)
- Provide feedback for improving the planned maintenance system
- Record planned maintenance tasks & breakdowns on the CMMS (Shire)
- Order spare parts & liaise with Engineering Stores
- Liaise with contractors & issue permits (if trained)
- Assist with machinery installation and decommissioning
- Participate in electrical and mechanical proactive and re-active maintenance to the best of your capability
- Diagnose machine breakdowns and act accordingly
- To communicate and escalate accordingly when assistance is required
- Carry out routine equipment safety and maintenance inspections
- Ensure all work conforms to statutory & safety requirements
- Ensure that plant and equipment perform to manufacture product efficiently to high quality standards.
- To liaise, assist with training and support other departments in general running of the factory.
- Undertake the training of others as required for development and regulatory requirements
- Identify own training needs and with manager agree a time plan for achieving this.
- Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement, to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement teams as required
- Communicate daily with Team Leaders & Managers to ensure project and planned maintenance; engineering and production priorities are understood.
- To coach and train colleagues where required
- Cover for the Team leader if required

Working hours & Remuneration |
- 06.00-14.00 and 14-00- 22-00 Monday to Thursday Friday 06.00-12-00 and 12-00-18-00
- 38-hour weekly average plus Weekend Rota call out (all weekends to be covered, maximum of once every 4 weeks after probation has been completed)
- Grade and pay rates as contractually agreed
- Weekend cover (Rota) will be paid at 12hrs at rate of pay for both Saturday and Sunday total of 24hrs. Cover to be provided between 6am-6pm. (Subject to review)
- Shift 6-2 and 2-10 on a Monday to Friday pattern
- Grade and pay rates up to be confirmed shift pay incorporated into rate, plus weekend callout payments
