Location: Newcastle – NE3, NE4, NE63
Salary: £13.27 per hour dependent on experience + £60 per sleep
Hours: Full-time, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
A well-established and growing provider of residential care for children and young people is seeking an experienced and committed Senior Residential Support Worker. The organisation provides safe, nurturing homes for children with emotional and behavioural needs and is dedicated to helping every young person build a stable, positive future.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will take on a leadership role within the home, supporting both the children and the wider staff team. You’ll lead by example, provide guidance to junior staff, and play a key part in maintaining high standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care and daily support to children and young people
- Lead shifts, ensuring routines, safeguarding, and care plans are followed
- Support staff development through mentoring and role modelling best practice
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individual care plans
- Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Ensure the home remains a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people – essential
- Previous experience in a residential childcare setting – essential
- Must hold a full UK driving licence
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – required
- Calm, confident leadership and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
