Job Description – Residential Support Worker (Entry Level)

Job Title: Residential Support Worker
Location: Bury, BL9
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £11.44 – £12.50 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Sleep-in rate: £60 per sleep
Equivalent Salary: £23,795 – £25,960 per annum (excluding sleep-ins)

The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our growing team in a three-bedroom children’s home in Bury. This role is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of experience working with vulnerable young people in the UK and a strong desire to support children in Ofsted-registered settings.

Working alongside a qualified and supportive team, you’ll help create a stable, nurturing home where children feel safe, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Support young people with daily routines including cooking, cleaning, hobbies, and attending school or appointments.
• Build trusting relationships to provide emotional and behavioural support.
• Implement behaviour management strategies including de-escalation and boundary setting.
• Maintain detailed logs and records in line with regulatory standards.
• Work collaboratively with therapists, social workers, and psychologists.
• Ensure safeguarding and safety of all young people at all times.
• Participate in regular training, supervision, and team meetings.
• Work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

What We’re Looking For

• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children in a residential setting.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant UK experience (e.g., children’s home, foster care, youth work).
• Willingness to work towards or already hold the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England).
• Experience managing or observing challenging behaviours in a professional setting.
• Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and professional boundaries.
• Full UK manual driving licence (essential).
• Clean enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK – no sponsorship or restricted visa applicants can be considered.
