Job Description
The Assurance Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of product governance related to destructive and non-destructive testing for Booth Industries. The role ensures product compliance with technical specifications, certification assurance, and adherence to project timelines.
This will be achieved through a strong understanding of testing standards, collaboration with UKAS-certified test houses and certification bodies, and managing all testing requirements across the business.
Responsibilities & Duties
Testing & Compliance
- Manage and control all destructive and non-destructive testing activities and deliverables.
- Develop testing strategies to optimize the number of required tests for full product assurance.
- Ensure test houses comply with industry standards and maintain oversight of testing processes.
- Attend tests (domestic and international), report observations, identify causes of failure, and propose remedial actions.
- Final sign-off on test products (FAT) before shipping and after installation at test facilities.
Project & Business Support
- Liaise with test houses for quotations, scheduling, installations, and drawings.
- Support Sales & Design teams by guiding product viability based on specifications.
- Assist in tender reviews for assurance compliance, noting any deviations or assumptions.
- Maintain awareness of industry developments, technologies, and standards.
- Support new product development (NPD) by assisting in business case composition.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain test reports and assessments on the Network Drive.
- Produce pre-test and post-test documentation as required by projects.
- Develop procedures and best practices for assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures for the engineering department.
General Responsibilities
- Ensure schedule adherence for assigned tasks and personal objectives.
- Submit timesheets, leave requests, and 1-2-1 reports in line with company policies.
- Align with company values and vision.
- Perform any ad hoc duties as required, commensurate with the grade of the role.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills
Essential:
? Minimum 3+ years’ experience applying engineering standards.
? HND or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science.
? Experience in configuration management and destructive testing.
? Knowledge of steel plate manufacturing, welding, and test environments.
? Understanding of load paths, failure modes, and steel structures.
? Ability to write technical reports and specifications.
? Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
? Flexibility to travel and work overtime when required.
Desirable:
? Proficiency in Autodesk 3D Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault.
? Experience as a Fire Engineer or Commissioning Engineer.
? Membership in an industry-related professional body.
? Holds or can obtain SC security clearance.
