Residential Support Worker
Reports to: Senior Residential, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager
Main Purpose of the Role
To contribute to all aspects of the physical and emotional care of the children and young people so as to promote their welfare whilst working in partnership with the family and other professionals.
- The Residential Support Worker is responsible for assisting in the promotion of good childcare practice, in accordance with Company policy and procedure.
- The Residential Support Worker will provide care for young people in residence, participating in the assessment of their needs and the implementation of plans for their future.
- The Residential Support Worker will assist in the administration and management of the Children’s Home.
Main Duties
1. Develop and sustain effective working relationships with the local community, colleagues and other agencies so as to promote collaborative working and partnerships.
2. Contribute to the effective and efficient use of the physical and financial resources.
3. Comply with the legal requirements relating to services, Children’s Homes Regulations, Guidance to Quality Standards 2015 and Company Policy and Procedure
4. Receive, transfer, store and retrieve information in line with good practice and company policy and procedure.
5. Establish, sustain and disengage from relationships with young people and their families in a professional manner.
6. Contribute to the effective physical, social and emotional environment for group care which provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which young people can be offered the support, care and guidance they need.
7. Contribute to the protection of young people from abuse; evaluate the risk of abuse, failure to protect and harm to self and other people and ensure that all matters regarding the care and management of young people are reported in line with Aurora Care Young People’s Services policy and procedure.
8. Promote people’s equality, diversity, inclusion and rights and responsibilities.
9. Contribute to the promotion of the individuals’ health and social well being; assist the individual to maintain a positive sense of self and identity, which will include promoting and maximizing their educational opportunities and achievements.
10. Contribute to the assessment of the individuals’ needs and circumstances and in the development, provision and review of care programs, which meets these.
11. Implement the trained framework for the prevention and management of individual behaviour.
12. Enable and support young people to participate in recreation and leisure activities.
13. Continue to develop one's own knowledge and practice, attend and participate in training.
14. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may from time to time be required by Accord Care Homes LImited
