Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Site Decommissioning Specialist
Location: Midlands, One of the sites is in Solihull
Contract Duration: July 27th - August 7th
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts
Hourly Rate: £240/300 Depending on day or night
Temporary contract but opportunity to become long term if they decide to keep you on.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years experience in industrial decommissioning, preferably in the automotive industry
- Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card
- Valid IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) PASMAN certification
- Valid Safety Passport
- Own tools
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and execute the mechanical aspects of site shutdown procedures
2. Develop and implement decommissioning plans for machinery and equipment
3. Oversee the safe disconnection, dismantling, and removal of mechanical systems
4. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations during the shutdown process
5. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and contractors involved in the shutdown
6. Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures throughout the decommissioning process
7. Document all shutdown procedures and create final reports
8. Manage the inventory and disposal of mechanical parts and equipment
9. Troubleshoot any unexpected issues that arise during the shutdown process
Required Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of industrial machinery and systems
- Experience in project management, particularly in decommissioning projects
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Proficiency in relevant software for project management and technical documentation
Additional Requirements:
- IOSH PASMAN (Principles of Applied Safety Management) certification
- Valid Safety Passport
- Must provide own tools (list of required tools will be provided upon successful application)
